NPS tank temps

I'm in the planning stages of setting up an NPS tank. I've seen some references to cold water tanks, and that lead me to question what the typical temperature is of an NPS tank? I'm sure it depends on the creatures, but are they generally the 79-82 reef temp, slightly colder, or chilled? I'm guessing this is a simple question with a complex answer, but I thought I might ask all the same.

Most nps prefer a little cooler, living in dark areas; often caves, in their natural environment. Most nps that are readily available do fine at regular temperatures: 77-82°. I keep my nps tank at 78 and it regularly gets up to 80/82, during the summer. My Apex is set to start turning lights off @ 80 and I'll toss a frozen bottle of rodi in the sump if it stays around 82, but I've never seen any sign of stress even at that temp, although it was only for a short period of time

I've noticed better polyps extension from large polyp non-photos at a bit lower than "normal" temp. I tend to keep them around 72-74°F.
