looking good so far!

Thanks!

Does anyone know if a 2x6 is strong enough to use for the length of the stand without any middle supports?

Very cool. Do you have an equipment list? :)

Yes i do, some things are undecided, but here it is so far.

Sump: standard 75 gallon tank left side will be the input/skimmer section then a bubble trap then return pump compartment and the right side will be a refugium with chaeto.

Skimmer: Still undecided but my options are a euroreef rs180, or and octopus recirculating 250. Any input or alternative suggestions would be great.

Circulation: 2 tunze 6100s on a multicontroller with magnet holders.

Lighting: 2 icecap 660 balasts running 8 54 watt t5s with icecap individual reflectors.

Calcium reactor: Precision marine reverse flow 422 reactor with effluent chamber. This is still up in the air as well, If someone could suggest an appropriate sized reactor for this tank that would be great.

Return pump: 2 Eheim 1260s

Ph control: Miluakee PH controller

Topup will be accomplished by a 25 gallon resovoir with a simple auto topoff system using a float switch, and a safety cutout switch. I will also put this on a timer so that it only comes on for a few minutes every few hours.

RO/DI system: Looking at an aquafx 75gpd barracuda 4 stage system.

I'll be running a DSB and 150-175 lbs of live rock.

Please offer feedback and suggestions to anything you would change/add.

Also Does anyone know if 2x6s are strong enough to run the 6 foot length of the stand without using any middle supports?

yeah i think theyre strong enough. i think even 2x4s are strong enough. they use 2x4s to build the frames on houses. u can put anythign on them if u divide the weight over them correctly.

Okay, so i got the search feature to work and after doing some reading i think i will paint it with rustoleum gloss black using one of those foam rollers.

I've always used Krylon Black from Wal*Mart. It's a spray and has worked okay for me.

I'll have a look at that too, thanks for the input.

You're welcome :)

What are your plans for fish and corals? 125s are such great looking tanks!

Yeah, i love 125s, i find them to be the best balance of size and price. I will be keeping SPS, and clams, so far the fish list is:

1 powder blue tang
1 yellow tang
1 sailfin tang
1 yellow watchman goby
1 pair of occ. clowns
1 pair of mandarin gobies
3-4 anthias, unsure which kind

Wow that sounds like an awesome tank setup. Tagging along for sure :)

I just ordered a PBT for my 75. I got a small one to raise up. Next year I'll be getting a 125 probably too, so I'm hoping to steal some great ideas from you lol :)

Yes that will be strong enough, you can click on my red house and see how I built mine. Different detentions but it's overkill and plenty strong.

I use tremclad rust paint and rolled it on with a tiny cloth roller, works great along with the other suggestions you have received.

Looking forward to following along.
