NSreefer's 125 build thread. (pics)

@ 1st glance the chip looks less than 1mm thick could be the angle . Do a test fit with the inside piece of the bulkhead if the gasket goes past the chip I don't forsee any problems.

When I drilled my 120 I had those same chips. I asked locally and the guys here told me just add some silicone glue around the hole before attaching the bulkhead. I did that and it worked out fine.

Well i made some more progress on the stand this weekend. The edges of the doors still need to be veneered and the piece of oak for the door on the canopy needs to be installed.

Here is one of the handles i am using for the doors and canopy along with a sample of stain that i might use.

Also the chip will be covered by the gasket, but just barely. I may try to fill it in with epoxy. Any thoughts? Thanks

I had lots of chips. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b83/mlivvy/reef/100_0902.jpg
I used this- http://www.cheappetstore.com/Fish-A...ilicone-Aquarium-Sealant-Sealant-3-oz-150727/

Don't know about the epoxy since it's just an adhesive. Aquarium Silicone will seal it like glass. But that's just my opinion.

So you smeared silicone around the hole to fill in the chips, let it dry and then installed the bulkheads?

Yep. Then screw in the bulkhead and sandwich it.

Thanks mlivvy I really appreciate it. Just to clarify though, the silicone was dry when you installed the bulkhead?

Nah wet. The bulkhead is gonna help seal the silicone in tight to cover up the chip. Your using the silicone as a gasket really to help seal.

sweet looking set up so far. i will be setting up a 125 fo pretty soon. all i need id the tank and the stand to finish.

I installed the door on the canopy today, as well as applied the first coat of stain.

Also, I am using hidden hinges for the main doors, so i had to install some pieces of wood behind the doors for them to attach to.

Hardware installed... I don't know what's wrong with these pics the stain is actually much darker than this, I think they're over exposed or something. I'm not much of a photographer.

Stand is finished.... well the outside is... i still can't get the pics looking right... must be the lighting. All i have left is to finish waterproofing the inside. What do you guys think?

Very cool lookin! That stand could hold up a '71 Buick GS I don't think you'll have any problems with it support or looks wise. Do you plan on coating the inside of the stand with anything? I don't see any problems yet but if I was to do my 40 again I would throw 3 coats of KILZ or urethane for extra moisture protection.
