How is the clown doing?

She did not make it through the night.
Brought him home and added him to My QT tank. so She would not be stressed by the other fish.
She was swimming around a little, but by time for me to call it a night. I looked and she was on her side panting heavy.
I woke up at 530 am and she was gone.
I want to make sure that the future meetings, these fish are taken care of. Im sorry but this was an un-needed death.
I wanna know how the other fish are doing.
I dont know how long that fish was in the bag for, but the water was nasty and Im sure it becomes toxic for them.
If were gonna do fish, then I would recommend using Large Bags with Lots of water, if they are going to be in the bags for more than 24 hours.

I agree, while I am super grateful to the LFS and the club, none of my 3 green slimer frags made it, as they were in less than an inch of water and all the tissue had "dissolved" by the time I got it home.
I'd rather have less stuff at the raffle if it means making sure more things are bagged in enough water and will make it through until 10pm.

Ya my slimer was bleached on one side, with tissue dissolving. The water was way to cold.
I am going home in a few minutes and see if it made it.
Pete's and mine were not the only one with lost slimers
But I agree with pete, while all the stuff is great. We do not want to be loosing stuff before it gets into peoples tank. (well even then we dont want to loose stuff)

My wrasse and sea hare both are doing fine in my anemone tank. The sea hare has its work cut out for it to get my hair algae issue in there under control. The wrasse is hiding in the rockwork right now, but seems to be doing fine. He is poking his head out by the overflow and looks like he has made a cave there into his own already. But I did bolt right after the raffle and did a rush acclimation.
SPS are going to be very sensitive to water temp issues and having them lying on the bottom of a cup probably isnt helping any.
Maybe we should encourgage people to rubberband pieces of styrofoam to their SPS frags from now on so they float upside down in the bags. This would keep the tissue damage to a minimum. I know this is how almost any wholesaler or transshipper will ship SPS (and many softies and LPS).
And maybe we should use something insulated like cofee cups instead of baggies for transporting our frags. It gets pretty chilly at night and I think the temp swing could seriously hurt or frags.
I think this might be a real issue for the frag swap that is coming up as well.
Might be worthwhile to think up some effective methods of transporting these coral frags before we all go and accidentally kill a bunch of our prized frags.

Sorry to hear about the clown and the slimers.
All my corals are doing well. I have a very long drive home, and always bring a soft sided cooler and a towel with me. Having the frags in the cooler with the towel for extra insulation has always worked well for me.
A also acclimate very slowly. I didn't get to bed until 2AM last night.

Michelle, I am glad to hear that your corals made it home just fine! If you ever get pictures of those pieces you won we would love to see them.

Sorry to hear about the loss of life. What we need to do is get the fish and corals bagged in more water. The clowns were in way to little water to begin with. If Paul can ask the supplier to package the animals in larger bags with more water, even if it means more boxes, the animals would do much better.

i would like to mention that while my slimer did die, the large colonie of stylophora (including two acro-crabs), the frag of encrusting Pavona, and the frag of YR zoa's i took home from the raffle made it into my tank just fine and are doing VERY well 
. like airin, i couldn't be more happy with my prizes. GREAT job on the raffle Paul. i look forward to the next one.

The other pair of Black percs is alive and well. While I appreciate the concern about the livestock, I had the fished all packed in O2 and set them up for 24 hour shipping. We also lost a cleaner shrimp. The green slimer actually just got too cold and I will work that out before the next meeting. I take great preperation and devote 2 full days before the meeting on how the livestock is handled and dealt with. While I understand that you must be bummed at losing the fish, I think it is noteworthy however that when you buy over 75 live items you are going to lose a few. I have recieved several pm's telling me how great others corals and live stock are doing and at this point am still confident that the creatures are getting the best care possible. I appreciate your concern for the health of the fish, and will take extra preperation on any SPS for the next meeting. Please just understand that when buying a HUGE amount of fish and coral and then transporting them, there is going to be some loss. If you ever take a minute to talk to Brian, John, Matt, or Peggy you will find that it just happens some times. I will continue to do what is necessary to ensure the best situation for the creatures that are raffle bound!

I for one am not complaining about the slimer. I am bummed, of course, but given the quanity of stuff you brought and the time you spent, it is somewhat par for course. I think Aaron had a few good ideas on the bagging, etc.
Who did the slimer come from? I'd love to buy a frag from them the next time the colonies are in need of some trimming.

I would make larger bags and more water a priority, in boxes with heat packs. Like they ship them, would also be a good thing.
I know there is always loss, but while we do the raffle to support the club we also do the raffle to win stuff to take home and to enjoy for as long as possible. But having them die off before you get them home or soon after. Just doesnt seem right and makes me wary on the raffle for the live items.
Just my thoughts...

I have the other cleaner and it is doing great. We will always have loss but I think if we compare it to the overall success rate there is really no reason to complain. Although I do understand the frustration of losing something it was a raffle so I am happy to come home with anything at all.
