Nuisance Algae ID

Howdy Folks,

Can I get an ID on this algae? It's a reddish color and is extremely hard to get off the rock. Won't come off at all with scrubbing and is next to impossible to even scrape off. It has a web like system close to the rock with all of the hairs sticking up. This stuff has slowly engulfed an entire rock and now a bunch of my snails have it on them.

Any ID so I can focus on a fix would be terrific.

It almost looks like cotton candy algae (which is not always pink).

Do you have mexican turbo snails?

Are there any hermits or emerald crabs in the tank? They are often able to pick off some tougher algaes.

I had an emerald, but he mysteriously died a few months ago...About the same time this crap started growing. No hermits. Maybe I should get myself another emerald

Ahhhh someone suggested red turf algae...I'm thinking thats what this is. I'll be going to get an emerald and probably a turbo snail asap. What's the best way to prevent possible ich transfer from the LFS snail to my tank?
