I received an email last night from a Bradley Klinkman. There was just a link, and I noticed that it was sent to some other folks including one addy that said petservices.

When I went to the link it said the file has been infected.

I did a search on the name, (it sounded familiar to me), and hits popped up for that name in Williamsville. We have two members here, Klink67 and Klink88...both of whom are from W'ville.

I don't have any other details but wanted to know if anyone else here received a similar e-mail.

Thx!

My yahoo account got hacked, as did a few friends of mine over the years. Anyway, you get hacked and every one of your contacts receives ads for illegal prescription drugs, most notably Viagra. That was fun, explaining to everyone, including my mother, that I'm not a perv who solicits his friends and family for illegal enterprises.

Not what you're referring to Justin, but very common.

Happened to me a few days ago. My clients, friends and family all got spam emails. I got a text from a customer telling me to bring prozac and viagra along with fish food next time I come clean his fish tank.

We just laughed it off. Changed the password and hope its fixed.

I've found that more secure passwords with at least 1 upper case letter, some numbers & if possible symbols stops the hacking.

yes and if you got "hacked" its not a bad idea to change all you passwords on all you accounts,if they are the same. I read something about thats how they get in your other accounts. Most people use the same password for everything, bank accounts,email,ect....

This is helpful, but will not prevent being hacked from a keylogger, which is more than likely what happened rather than somebody trying to crack a password. Facebook is notorious for this. Click a link and you prompted enter your password, but in reality you are on a spoofed page that will log your password/login info.

Using a Mac won't always stop your facebook from getting hacked, make you impervious to spyware, or a host of other problems. The most secure thing you can do is be aware of what you are clicking, have up to date spyware/malware protection, and run frequent scans with a couple different programs (I recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows machines).

yes,the only reason macs are "better" at not getting viruses and what not is because most people dont have them so its not worth the "hackers" time to make a virus for macs. Now if you click a link that made for macs then your just as likely to get it.
Yes the best thing you can do watch what you click!!!

Agreed!

not really..Most secure is..Firefox + no-script+ ad-block+spy-bot + a name brand virus scanner of your choice = win :bounce3:
Wow thats a lot of work. Glad i don't have to do all that. Just gotta keep a careful eye on phishing emails.
