Obiwanthegoby's Downsize Build

looking good...finally!! man I'm really sorry to read about all your issues that sucks man! have you heard anything back from CAD and refunds coming your way full or at least half?

Looks great, I'm following.

Thanks man. No nothing from CAD lights. They've actually taken to completely ignoring emails and not answering phone calls. I'd have to tell anyone wondering or asking to steer clear of the guys. I've don't more digging now than I've initially an found even more ****ed people.

Glad to see you are past all the problems. I probably would have cancelled the build after all the problems and contacted another vendor. Looking at the recent pictures it looks like you are using a cap on your drain which is holding up your screen. If that is what is holding it up you can get an insert plug which will eliminate the height and allow your screen top to sit flush. If you need a picture let me know and I'll take a picture of mine. All in all I'm glad to see you have your system running with all the issues. I'm sure its such a relief.

Yea, I've been lazy lately with the final touches as I was getting tired of all the issues popping up. Plan is to mod a insert cap with a small tube with a valve on it to regulate the air draw to be quieter. If not my wife may just kick my butt, she's getting tired of the gurgling. I also still need to install the Elos osmolator, install wire management, ect. Probably wrap all of it up this week/weekend. Pics to follow of coarse. I got the confirmation on my clean up crew shipping tomorrow, still waiting on confirmation for the fish shipment.

Brown diatom is gone, Hair algae is starting, lets just hope its gone soon.

Clean up crew added as well as some other addtions...

Some work done in the sump, still need to plumb the Carbon/GFO reactor, the dosers and do some wire management

Fighting the good fight against the hair algae bloom now. Looks like its starting to subside slowly, gfo/carbon reactor is on, fuge has algae in it and slimmer is running full bore. The tangs are actually eating it as well, they were so picky before....

Some pictures of new additions

Tried to add my Clownfish from the Nem tank to the 187 yesterday. They did fine over night but by day time the Grey Headed Wrasse and Tuskfish were at them and had them pinned in a corner for an hour. I took them back out and put them in the Nem tank... hmmm... no more small fish unless they are absolutely pugnacious I guess.... Dotty back and a hawk fish?

More to come.

I contracted AEFW a few weeks ago... Looks like I am winning the battle. The STN appears to have stopped and I didn't see any AEFW during the last dip. Color is also returning to the tips of some of the frags. I didn't loose anything completely but lost a lot of the base growth from all of my frags except two. Waiting to see what todays dip holds. I am also going to attempt to add the clownfish back into the display. This time with the company of the Prawn Goby and the Candy hawkfish to see if it takes some of the direct stress off of the clowns. We'll see.....

AEFW are gone. I lost 4 of the 7 new SPS frags In the process of dipping ect. I also think I have figured out my lights are just too powerful. Anything I bring up to the top of the tank bleaches. All of my green SPS frags are doing fine. Still trying to figure that out. Still kind of scared to put anything else in the tank. Not sure what the deal is. any ideas?

Have you tried raising the lights or running a few less bulbs? I don't recall your bulb combo, but if less light works you could always swap a few blue bulbs for a couple Actinic bulbs.

I raised the lights about a week ago. I'm seeing how that does. Right now I'm running

ATI Blue+
ATI Purple+
ATI Blue+
10K
ATI Blue+

I've thought about swapping a Blue Plus for purple plus, and really id like the tank to be a bit more Blue when all the lights are on. RIght now I have two blue plus on for 12 hrs. I have everything on full blast for 5 hrs in the midlle-end of the cycle.

I played with my Powermodule for years never quite 100% happy until I added two strips of reefbrite all blue LED's. They have the actinic pop that no T5 could give. I absolutely love it.

Not sure if you were able to quiet the gurgling but i recently found success in putting a 45 degree T on the end of the drain with flex tubing in the T to allow the air flow...easy parts and application if you want to give it a shot.

Love the tank especially the scape putting that depth to use very nice....following

Thanks!

I am actually going to redo the aquascape a bit. I broke down all but one of my other tanks, and am pulling all of my favorite pieces of rock out once they're done cooking. Plan is to pull out the center pieces that look like boulders and don't have much character, replace with some good pieces.

I am probably going to break down the anemone tank as well, the anemone and me didn't seem to get along very well. It split, but it still looks like it's going to bleach and melt away. So I'll be cooking that rock as well. So more character rock and rock to trade/sell once its done cooking.

Also I'll have a Ecotech Radion for sale!!! ;-)
