Obligate sps polyp eating butterfly ???

Carib he was talking to me I know mike from my local Forum !! I'd be interested in seeing videos also but more important to me would be can a sps polyp eater live /thrive if u got it eating mysis ?

Mike I saw the penates and was shocked at how beautiful they are !!

On mysis alone no way. They need a diet high in algae since they eat the Zooanthellae out of the SPS I would imagine. Kind of like when people have tangs and foxfaces that turn rogue and start eating corals for the zooanthellae because they are lacking algae in their diet. I think with enough variety and enrichment via selcon/zoe/vitachem that it can be done. Biggest problem is getting one to eat anything prepared, let alone a variety. Over the summer I will be trying to force feed one into eating prepared foods but even if Im successful with that Im not sure that I will be able to sustain one long term (1yr or more) There is another thread on here that was started by a Russian chick and she was able to force feed some Obligates and get them eating prepared foods so I know it can be done... Sorry I don't have her username or a link to the thread handy

Strange I bought a saddleback eating mysis about 6 weeks ago it was eating like a pig and I was just waiting for a sm white spot to clear up b4 adding it to my display long story short eat like usual last night today it was dead and looked terrible disappointed think I left it in fuge to long I will try them again would like to get 2 small ones ....

Sorry to hear Matt I thought that one wa going to make it because it was eating well. They did get another one in along with a few other species of Butterflies. I was thinking about a Butterfly tank too but the tank is tied into my main system and didn't want the extra bio load on my DT. I don't want to set up another system just for them
