OC clowns won't allow LTA to eat

I like to feed my purple LTA a small chunk of shrimp once a week. The problem that I am having is that my 2 OC clowns that host the LTA keep on pulling the shrimp away from the LTA (as if it is invading their home). The only way I can get the LTA to keep the food is if I stand there with a scraper and continually shew away the clowns until the food is in the LTA's mouth.


Is this normal?
or is something else going on

Sometimes it is necessary to guard the anemone's food until it has swallowed it when it is occupied by over zelous clownfish.
You might want to try feeding the clowns well first with finely chopped shrimp and then the anemone.
