Ocean Nutrition Gel Pack Food for RBTA

I saw a video where a guy gave his RBTA some of that gel from the Instant Ocean Nutirtion gel packs that are put in the salt mix buckets as a sample. I was wondering how much of this to feed my RBTA and can you close the pack and feed whats left until it is gone? MY RBTA seems to love the stuff and I never would have thought to feed it to it. It just sits as none of my fsh will eat it. It seems like a lot to feed one RBTA at one meal though.

I too received a free sample of the IO gel food at a frag swap in Jan. Seems they were giving away full retail sized packages to either move the older stock or trying to push it hard. I've tried on several ocassions to feed this to any of my clowns. They mouth it several times and it sinks to the bottom where I have to hassle to pull out the glob.

To answer your question, if my clowns don't eat it the anemone WILL NOT be fed that item. Plain and simple, if the pigs of the sea would not eat a food item I cannot trust it is very good for an anemone. I'm not certain of the actual process or ingredients in the gel, so I just don't trust it.

Stick with fresh raw seafood for the anemone.

Just my $0.02...

Oh! I didn't know clown were pigs of the sea world :-)

I think you would probably get +1,000,000 from this forum if you asked if their clowns were 'sea pigs'. Mine are hogs and eat almost any seafood they can fit in their mouth. I've even had a GSM female tag a newly added peppermint shrimp that ventured too close to her cave.:headwally:

I actually do feed everyone this stuff and they all love it. I've had good success with squeezing it into a small bowl, adding tank water to dilute it and break it up into smaller pieces and then broadcast feed with a syringe. My RBTA and Condy both go nuts for it.

But I only use the marine blend, which I think is bloodworms. I know there are a few different types

I've been using it on the Condy for as long as I've had it... 6 months or so. My RBTA is a new addition (only 2 months) so ever since I've had that one too. I don't feed only this, they get large variety from dried (rehydrated) krill to scallops. I feed this to the tank on the weekend maybe twice a month.
