Just came from a Chicago area LFS that has them.

8g - $249
14g - $299
29g - $399

Very, very pricey retail!

399. is absurd for this size tank. equipment is not that different than nano or aquapod. lfs is pushing up price. las vegas dealor was selling for 275. with shipping.

Pricey!

Pricey!

My LFS in Syracuse, NY is selling the 29 for 230ish. There was more room in the back vs. my aquapod 24. Had a whole chamber full of bioballs. It was a 3 chamber set up vs. a 2 though...so it divided up the extra room a bit...but they had a bit more depth as I could squeeze my hand in there a bit easier. You'd think they'd pull there head out and fix some of the common gripes and complaints when joining a bit late in the game. I'll prolly buy one late next spring when I have to move to AL.

Some of the differences I've noticed on the Biocube compared to the ones I've seen in the past (Biocube,Biozone, and Aquapod) are the fit and finish is better. The feeding lid has a deflector that keeps any light from spilling through. The tops fit very well, the fans have one pulling air in and the other out. The ballasts are remote with disconnects and wall hangers. The sump area has a view slot with high and low level marks so you can see in the pump chamber without lifting the top. The 8 and 14 have stops on the hinges that allow the top to rest open against the stops, the 29 does not have a hinged top but does have a large feeding door that allows easy access for hands and another lid over the filter chamber. It has a surface skimming inlet and a subsurface inlet . The subsurface inlet is baffled in a way to pull and not effect the surface skimming. It has a Loc-line type of outlet. It uses Coralife lights. It has separate cords and ballasts for moonlights and each PC bulb. They are boxed very well. The instructions are good and include a parts list with part numbers.
The drip tray is well thought out instead of just a plate with holes.
It also has a replaceable filter cartridge that is easy to access.
That's all I can think of right now. As to the prices. Every place has their own overhead so I can't comment on mark-up other 'n to say that new products are usually introduced on special and some places might be passing those savings on and if so it'll only be temporary.

JCM you live in parkridge, did you go to that really big fish store with the stingrays and stuff? because they are very pricey compared to others.

anyone got any of these instock where i can order one either online or from a lfs that will ship? west coast stores i deal with all say it will be middle of september before they get thier hands on any of em

You state $299. How are you getting it for $160?

29g - $399

I am going to the LFS tommarow and buying the 14 gallon for $160

Just Dave: Thanks for the intelligent and informative comparison. First time anyone has posted any real info about the Oceanic. Perhaps and as time goes on, these manufacturers will see what mods are being made to these nano all in one tanks and give us the ultimate: larger filtration area, fuge with light set up, more powerful pumps and upgraded lighting options for those wanted MH over PC. They only need to read these forums to see where most hobbyist are doing to upgrade these very clever tank setups.

Just bought a 29 for $229 and yesterday was the first in St. Louis to get one of thier stands which seem to be harder to find then the tanks.

Prices here are going from $229 all the way up to $369

The place that is selling them low gets 8 in every 3 days and are gone before the next shipment comes in so I am told.

Just set mine up seems to be well made.

Arndog where did you get your Biocube from? I am in STL and would like to see one in person.

I got mine at the only Tropical World Pets left here. Its on Watson rd. But if you just want to see one I know Beldts Aquarium in hazelwood has some on hand but they are the ones selling for $369.

Stand was $105 for the 29 gallon size and is black and with doors on bottom with black smoked glass. It really looks nice when combined with the black Bio Cube. My wife is actually happy at how it looks since its going in our formal living room. :)
