hartford loop?

hartford loop?

I have to make some changes to the system; since the skimmer sits in the sump, the fluctuations of the water in the sump affect the level in the skimmer.

Water evaporates so quickly that the skimmer really only performs optimally for about the first 2 hrs after I add fresh.

I figure the addition of a hartford loop and the completion of my auto-topoff system will resolve the problem.

What do you mean by hartford loop? Can you explain what that is and show pictures of it if you have them.... btw great project you did there....

wow! really nicely done, im glad someone bumped it up...i am in the process of doing a very similar system right now, and want to thank you for the really nice layout to refer to!

Good stuff! It's always awsome to see a fellow 37g cube-er!

I might have missed it, but how much water volume does your sump hold?

I'm wondering how that 2" exhaust pipe is holding up?
The "aluminized" mild steel pipe they use I thought would not last too long before it oxidized in/around the reef aquarium environment. It barely lasts long in an automotive environment!
Nice job on the tank, new, mature pics would be nice. This is one that inspired me to get back in the hobby, 30 cube for me however, will be up this winter I hope.
Bill.

Hey guys; I have no updated photos unfortunately... I moved and sold the aquarium to a friend. Last I saw it was doing quite well.

The aluminized pipe shows no signs of rusting so far. It doesn't get a lot of salt creep but it does get some. No real oxidation so far. Thankfully.

I have a 120 going up soon... I'll post a thread when it's complete.

Nothing is ever permanent, is it? That project shows a lot of thought and patience going into it to get it done right. Great job. Looking forward to the next one.

Thought I would bump this up because there are some great ideas in here. Thanks for the inspiration Bishop.
