I recently bought a used 90Gal oceanic tech (upgrading from a 55-gal acrylic). http://www.oceanicsystems.com/products/tech-series.php
I was thinking about making the switch to LEDs, and some people recommended in another post that I check out some custom DIY LEDs: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2025298 I think it's a good idea, and am looking into it now.
However, I am now struggling w/ where to mount the LEDs; seems that I would need a canopy. The stand has a "modern" look, it's made of glass & steel (see oceanic website) so a wood canopy would not be appropriate. I did some searching online and haven't found any "modern" looking canopies.
Most people w/ this tank seem to have either an off-the-shelf light fixture w/ "legs" or go ceiling-mounted. I actually don't mind the ceiling mounted look, but my wife vetoed.
I think a low-profile SS or black acrylic canopy might look good, but I don't know where to find something like that. Seems it would need to be custom-made.
Any suggestions? I'd also love to hear from any other Oceanic tech owners out there, what do you use?
