Oceans motions 4 way question

Right now i am doing a complete teardown and rebuild of my 75 gallon reef. I have planned to have it tore down for about two months. I came up with the Idea of possibly drilling the back of the tank and adding a OM 4way. The holdup is I just bought a new return pump about 4 months ago and I am wondering if it is two small to make full use of the OM. the pump is a Ehiem rated at 2400 Lph (634 GPH). What does everyone think?

Definitely too small of a pump to get anything useful out of an OM4. With typical drums, 2 of the 4 outlets are open at any given time, so the flow out of each outlet would be at best half of what the pump's delivering. For just making your return flow alternate a bit, I'd suggest an OM Squirt 2-way.

I would use a larger pump something at least 1500gph. I would shoot for 2500ghp. At 2500 gph, by the time you count head lost you will be at about 25x per hr circulation.

If you want to use that pump, just get a squirt not a 4way. Or even better setup a closed loop and use the 4 way for that. Keep your overflow/sump setup at the much lower flow rate.
