Ocellaris and Yellow Anemone?

Vapour1ze

I'm an Addict.
Saw a yellow anemone, looked very nice at a LFS today, wanted 45 bucks, wondering if they would host to this or not? Not sure on the specific name it was more of a short tentacled.

Yellow anemones aren't all that common ( if at all ), most of the time they are dyed Sebaes.

It is up to the clowns weather they will be hosted or not. Some take hours, others months. But, knowing what type of anemone it is would help a lot.

If that LFS isn't too far from me I could check it out, could PM which one is it.

I took a lot at that anemone today.

Can't be 100% sure that it is dyed, but I am leaning that way. The ends of the tentacles were yellow, whereas the lower 2/3s of them were bleached.

If you have never kept an anemone successfully ( 2 years or more ) I would suggest that you pass on it.

If you have kept them for successfully for 2-5 years I would still suggest that you pass on it.

If you have successfully kept them for 5+ years, it would be your call, but I wouldn't expect it to make it, but might be worth a try if you are willing to but in the time and effort it would take to bring it back from the condition that it is in.

To be honest I thought about it (( but passed because you asked about it )), but right now I just can't give it the effort that it would require to bring back to a healthy state. In a couple of months I would try it, but would have very very low expectations.

thanks for looking at it, yea ive never kept one not still really sure how but soon I want one in my 29, thanks

Sure thing, had a break during the middle of the day so traffic wasn't too bad.

Then if you have never kept one, I wouldn't do it. Plus, for a second lets assume that it recovers, it would get way too big for a 29. Many many years ago I had a Sebea in my 75, and it pretty much took up 1/3 of the tank.

For a 29, and for your first anemone, I would suggest getting a BTA and preferably a clone from a fellow reefer.
