Ocellaris clown not eating

One of my two Ocellaris Clowns has not been eating for the past 4 days, but otherwise seems fine and active. The water tests out fine, and other creatures (snails, peppermint shrimp and the other Clown) are also doing well. Is there any reason why he may be refusing food? Just wondering if he's gonna snap out of this and make it.

wierd ... but what are you trying to feed him ... ? Clowns usually don't recover from not eating ... esp. that long. If you can trade him for another one at the store before it dies.

New Clowns have been known to starve themselves to death. It happened to me once and the whole process can last an agonizing 10 to 14 days.

Since then, I've learned that live food will usually entice the most reluctant Clown. And, I have never lost a new addition since.

Make a batch of Baby Brine Shrimp. It takes about a day. Once you see the Clown eating something, they will usually start to accept other foods.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

I agree with racrumrine,

It happened to me too. The clown didn't want to eat any food, did this for about a week. Then I feed her brine shrimps and the next day she ate ..

Then I tried to feed her dried food and worms , she ate only worms but then she started to eat everything.

You need to be patient, many times brine shrimps do the job for starting her to eat..

IME clowns can be susceptible to internal parasites as well. My clown once stopped eating and had white stringy poop.

A few days in quarantine with some maracyn II and all was well.

Just a heads up as this might not be the case with yours.

If you offer the live foods as suggested and it still doesn't eat I would try some of the maracyn II as it won't hurt and would be the only other option that I could think of.
