i have 1 black ocellaris in my 12 gal nano that kicks up sand EVERY SINGLE DAY
CONSTANTLY!!!!
i think he's hosting with the sand which is rather odd.
but does anyone else have this experience with their clowns?
any other ideas on what's going on?
When I had my maroons in a pond, they dug a hole in the sand about 2 feet in diameter. They kept the area spotless. Even picked up hermit crabs and removed them from their hole in the sand.
I have a Maroon hosting in a GBTA, and he does the same thing. Usually he kicks a bit up and then runs full speed into the nem. Almost like hes trying to get it to move or something.
Typical clownfish behaviour. If it's a problem buy a white tile and place it about 1" under the sand bed and cover it. Let the clownfish shift the sand down to the tile. It won't look too horrible and the clown won't be able to stir the sand up.
