Ocellaris not hosting a nem.

Another reefer told me to put my rbta and clowns in a small container with holes in tank. That way the clowns are around the rbta. I tried this for a few hours but felt it was cruel so I took them out. One clown did stay in the rbta during their time "locked up". Months later my rbta hosts the same clown. The other clown doesn't bother. I say all this to say just give them time they will figure it out.

It just takes time. Ive had clowns take 6 months before they hosted a nem.

I had an RBTA for my percula and ocellaris and they would not go into it.

I ordered a ritteri from the internet and they went in it immediately but unfortunately the nem didn't travel well and it died a few days later.

I got a Sebae anemone (H. Crispa) and they both went in it immediately. Nem and fish doing great.

my clowns 1 perc and 1 oc dont go near any of my BTA's after having the nems nearly a year... they love the powerhead though

I had horrible luck with my ocellaris hosting anemones. Got a pair of true percs and they hosted right away, may be luck but who knows.

my clowns finally went into my RBTA after being together for 8 mothes. just give them time, maybe they will go in the anemone and maybe not. leave that up to the clowns. either way the clowns will be fine with or without an anemone

This is what I did. I put in the BTA with my Ocellaris that i had for over 2 years at the time. I positioned it close to where the clowns slept at night. Then I taped pictures of clowns hosting anemones around the area that the BTA was. It took around 2 1/2-3 months but eventually the figured it out. Then the BTA got sucked into the vortech and now the clowns host my giant torch coral (even better IMO). I think once you get a pair of ocellaris to host a nem for the first time they will be more willing to host corals after wards if the nem is removed.

It's just a pain to get them to start hosting if they've never done it before.

I know it sounds strange, but I've heard of others with the 'taping pictures of anemones hosting clowns to the areas frequented by the clowns to the side of the tank and near the anemone' method before. Find some pictures on the net, print them out, and tape them up in several locations. GL!
