Where can you order the Purple pin wheel? I have the 160 with mesh and it is pulling about 35. Would like to try the other wheel.

If you are pulling 35 thats very good. I wouldn't bother touching that.

The large PPW $40 you can get from reef specialty. It will pull about 30, which is lower than what you have.

How did you do your mesh mod?

I am finally through dealing with Coralvue!!!! They don't want to do anything about the noise issue with my skimmer! They have referred me back to the retailer, which is Reef Specialty, and I'm not going to bug Mike or Jeremy about a problem that is not theirs, but Coralvue's. When I inquired about Coralvue purchasing my skimmer back from me or exchanging it for another model not using the sicce pumps, I was quoted a price on a different skimmer and told to try and sell my skimmer for as much as I could get for it. Yeah right.....like I'm going to stick it to someone with a skimmer that's loud as a food processor or garbage disposal. I am done trying to work with Coralvue on this issue and since my skimmer is still WELL under warranty I will start to pursue other actions to get this problem resolved. I will never pay my hard earned money to a company that won't stand behind it's products or won't honor it's warranty. BUYERS BEWARE OF COMPANIES LIKE THIS!!!!!!!

I took mesh and used the pin wheel it came with. I cut it to size and pushed the mesh down into the pinwheel very gently. It started making smaller bubbles and pulling 35 scfh. It starts pulling about 30 and after an hour is up to 35.

tas, maybe you could sell it to someone who has their sump set up in a fish room. That way the loud noise wouldn't bother them.
Have you talked to Mike or Jeremy at all?

My skimmer finally settled down after going bizerk from the mudding and painting I did in the living room. I had to change out some water, but it is finally back to normal and I must say that this PPW is working out nicely. Turned the skimmer off last night to clean the cup and when I plugged it back in, it started right up at 33scfh. I believe these skimmers run best in the mid 30's. This reduces turbulence and makes them more efficient.

Hounddog, do you have any pics of that bearded dragon? Congrats.

I talked to Mike and Jeremy in the beginning.......but when it's been 3 months since purchase.....it's no longer the retailer's problem.....it's the manufactuer's problem. I've dealt with Coralvue for over a month now......and they did send me new pinwheels and magnet assemblies, but now that they didn't work it's like.....oh well...I guess you're going to have to live with it.....we won't buy back our dysfunctional products. Ugg...I'm so frustrated right now! I've spent $500 for a foaming garbage disposal!!!!!!!

It will take me a couple of months to save up, but I'll be getting a BK 250 Deluxe Internal to replace this piece of garbage!!!

Tas, I am sorry, It has not worked out for you. :(
I really liked my extreme200.

Tang, (after break-in) My PPW ran right at 34scfh in 7.5" of water. head of foam was very stable, all day long!

Im not at all in the very least bit surprised that Coralvue left you hanging out to dry with the pumps.

Chargeback may be your only option aside from legal (which isnt worth it to the buyer in most cases and manufact. knows this) ... depending on how you made the purchase. Unfortunately, that takes it out on the retailer, leaving them to have to get it back from manufacturer (which they most likely would), assuming that your claim is accepted.

Live and learn.

Good luck.

I will shoot Jeremy a pm to find out.......I may just try to sell it with all the different wheels and stuff I have for it now.

I did a 4 layer mesh and now it pulls around 30-35 :)

It is much louder though, it wa superquiet when it was pulling 20-25 on 3 layer mesh

its making a LOT of bubbles, started skimming pretty fast.

Thanks again guys for all the help

I've been reading this thread. which helped me decide on what skimmer to order. The OctoX 200 was within my budget and sounded like a good choice!

It arrived on Wednesday and after running it in vinegar water for a couple of days, I just did a waterchange and am using that water, plus a cup of skimmate, to break in the OctoX.

Looking pretty good so far!
Still dialing it in, but that's sure easier than with my previous skimmer!
