just got a flow meter (rmb-52-ssv) and im showing only 20-22 scfh. i have taken apart each pump 3 times and get the same result..what do you think the problem could be?

That is about 4days of skimmate.

Same here Rook/

If you let the- gunk- build-up on throat, the bubbles have a harder time, carring the stuff over the rim into cup..
Believe me, (I have been around the block, once ;) ) get yourself a bottle brush, clean throat daily.. you will see a big increase in skimate production .. Do not cut off the skimmer, clean with brush while it is running, the bubbles will carry over the orangics you brush off.. (careful it splatters some :D )

the valve is wide open and after all the restarts do you think it is running backwards? how can you tell?

restart it, see if scfh increases.. :) (only way I knew was that scfh dropped- but it was usually ony 4scfh drop)

tried that about 10 times with the same result....i took the pump off the skimmer body and let it run and it was about 38 scfh but as soon as it was screwed back to the body it drops to 20-22.

thanks

skimmer is in 8" of water and the bubblebreak is about 3" from the top. i have tried in the past to keep it at the lower setting but it would never go over into the cup.

It really need to be kept there.. I know, you think thats low, many people here have.... :D but give it a week.. (1 week will not hurt your tank)
Now, its a standard!

(if you really want/need to see it kick out some stuff, add some Amino acids) ( or feed heavy and wait)

Good thinking, I forget to say. run the pumps horizontal.. it does make a difference..
I wish we could make a list, and have it posted on every page!
Must do's!-- should do's!

( I doubt the bubble plate is over powered by 2 sicce pumps, but thanks for reminding me- I have been meaning to do that on my cat1, just to see)

I think it to much back pressure on the pumps withthe 300s volume in the chamber. I'm just thinking out of the tube LOL
