Octo Extreme Skimmer KO Club

I'm having some issues with my 160. It's been running for over a month now, I have it in 9" of water running almost all the way closed and am still getting a ton of micro bubbles out of it. I have the outlet turned so it is half out of the water. Any suggestions? Raise or lower the skimmer? Stock pinwheel and all that, should I change that?

Have you been getting the mb's since day one?
Have you checked to see if you airline is restricted, or if your venturi is clogged.
Take the pump apart and reassemble.

I had issues after a few days and took it apart and reassembled it.

Works perfectly now, but I think I had the airline slightly pinched before. I wasn't getting a high enough water level in the body.

Yes the skimmer is sitting on a 3" eggcrate stand in a section with 12" baffles so it is in 9" of water.

I did drill a hole in the base plate a while back to run the airline through so I don't think kinking is an issue.

Like I said, right now I have the outlet most of the way closed to get anything into the collection cup and have a ton of microbubbles coming out of the outlet. So many that they are making it through the baffles and into the display.

I'll try taking the pump apart as it seems you should be able to run with the outlet open far more. Maybe the pump is restricted somehow.

I used 9" first, then I moved it up to 8". I think 8" is better

Microbubbles = an almost for sure sign of air hose blockage (kinked or blocked by salt, etc)
It could also mean your pump is not seated properlu in the body.

Just curious, how many people are running the stock CV PW and having great results?

Or does everyone do MW or ATB PPW?

TIA

Performance after switching back to MW

I switched back to MW from PPW.
I cleaned my pump and skimmer one week ago, and now it seems like the pump is blasting through the bubble plate and water is hitting the wall of the skimmer.
Here are pics and a vid of 2 days worth.

I have used the PPW and have had a few pins shear off after about a month and was a waste of money IMO.
I have struggled with my Octo 200 and have no clue why. Water level stays consistent at alittle over 8". I have adjusted the water level IN the skimmer until I found a level I believed to be optimal with the Sicce pump and MW. I still never get much skimmate, granted I run a dry skimmate but it never really amounts to much. I think after about three days skimming consistently, I had maybe .5" of skimmate in the cup, and in my eyes isn't much.
I see guys who are pulling all sorts of skimmate, be it wetter, but still a consistent skimmate production; what gives?

I can't imaginge that the bio load is too small, but that is the only other thing I can think of...

I've read through countless pages of this thread but could not find anyone reviewing the extended neck version of the Octo Ext 200... I see all these great results with the regular neck and wonder if the extended neck will make a huge difference?

I just switched back to my PPW after a couple great weeks of running mesh. I will keep everything the same as far as feeding and additives. I will post pics with results.
