Hello Everyone,

What: October Meeting

Where: My house. 7912 Ashley Rd Powell, TN 37849

When: Oct 16th from 4pm until everyone is ready to leave

Food: Grilling out, I will probably do chicken, burgers, and hot dogs, but feel free to bring whatever you want cooked

Topics: So far the only thing I have planned is showing how to frag acans and chalices. I am always open to suggestions on topics as the fragging will only take up about 15-30 minutes.

What to bring: Yourself, a side dish of your choosing, and I am open to doing another frag swap thingy.

Hope to see you there!!!

Grilling out sounds awesome. I'd love to do a frag swap game again.

All I can really get a frag of is that Green Star Polyp that a lot of folks don't like. Or maybe a couple small mushrooms that seem to be spreading a bit.

Don't forget your costumes peoples!

I'll bring a 5-layer bean dip and some tortilla chips.

Seth, I have here in my meeting notes that you said that you'd have a keg of Samuel Adams Oktoberfest on hand. Is that correct? :D

Eddie, please tell your wife she has to make that potato dish again. That was too good!

The 16th is a good Saturday for a meeting - that's the Vols' buy week this year.

I heard the same thing, but I heard Heinekin. The outdoor cook-out atmosphere may push me into drinking a bit this time, they just go together.

That was incredible. Megan wants the recipe for this. We could find it online, but would rather have one that we have tasted and like.

IIRC, Seth considered Heinekin, but settled on Oktoberfest to fit the season/Halloween party theme.

I second everything posted....including the keg of heiny and the keg of sam adams!! Oh, and the potato stuff. :)

I just want to say I'm sorry I couldn't make the last meeting. I can tell that you really enjoy the fellowship. My wife and I really want to be a part if this learning expierence. We hope to come and enjoy. Again thanks for the invite to the last one, I hope it. Is still good for this one. Dave

@macclellan- I will see if I can find someone to fill a pony of Oktoberfest, specialty beers are sometimes kinda tricky to come across in keg form. You usually have to request them ahead of time and have the order filled for pickup. If it is ungodly expensive I may have to have a tip jar out ;)

@Devinwolfe- I am personally not a huge fan of Heine but if you want you could always bring a minikeg, they sell those at most grocery stores nowadays. I will take the GSP if noone else wants it. I traded all of mine except for the Brirarium (sp?) recently.

@askmedave- You are most certainly welcome to come and enjoy some good company and festivities. I think everyone understands that it isn't always possible to make every single meeting. Life Happens. We can dig it.

@ EVERYONE- Joel reminded me- DON'T FORGET YOUR COSTUMES>I think I may even give a prize to Best Dressed (hint hint costume contest) :)

Well I guess I could bring a frag off my large colony again. It would be the same as the last time.

I keep the mini kegs in a Beertender on my kitchen counter. Best beer I've ever had at home, like having it on tap actually. The only problem is they take a while to settle down.

If you guys really want to get a small 1/6 (5 gallons) barrel of Oktoberfest or anything else let me know I can get pretty much any beer you desire from work! Small keg of Oktoberfest runs about $55 bucks and I can probably get the deposit waived too as long as it all gets drank so I can take the empty back!

No not really. More of a red/amber type of beer with a bit of maltiness and not as much hoppiness as their Boston Lager both which are great on draft! By far one of Sam Adams best seasonals other than Winter Lager that is!

@Engloid: If Coors Lite is your reference point, then yes. ;) It's a rusty golden color.

@Seth: I was totally joking, but don't mind it being taken seriously. I'd kick in $10.

@ KnoxLeg.: That sounds like a pretty good price!

KnoxLegend, I have a pony but I am not sure that you could take it for exchange. It originally housed Miller Lite (it was short notice, don't ask). Let me know if that would work for you, as I know that keg deposit stuff can be tricky depending upon where one is getting the keg from.

With the the distributor as long as it the product they sell the deposit is 50 bucks no matter the keg size. Cherokee Distributing is Miller/Coors and Sam Adams along with many others. If we have an empty keg here at work when they deliver on Friday I will see if I can have them print a seperate invoice for whatever the decsion may be and use our empty for the deposit. Just let me know by October 13

Sounds like a good idea, but I'll just bring a mini heini keg. Not really a fan of much else. I have acid reflux and anything but heini makes it act up pretty bad.

Is it ok for a non member to attend a meeting. I am new to the hobby and would love to meet other people as passionate about the hobby as me and possibly join the group. My dad has been a member since 2000. He has not been active since 2008 but I would like to change that.

You're certainly welcome to come to the meeting.
If you are who I think you are, I hope you're enjoying that lighting system you got from me.

Garrett

Someone from my father's generation would be saying right about now "Oh, you must be Art's boy". :spin1:

You are certainly welcome at our meetings. If you can bring your dad, you would be more than doubly welcome.
