Anyone know the difference between the
Super Reef Octopus 2000 internal (RO-PS-2000int)
and the
Super Reef Octopus XP 2000 IN-SUMP Cone Protein Skimmer by PS-OCT-XP2000I

Ah, and the cone ones are supposedly better?

You'll find different opinions on whether or not a cone design is "better" per se. I've used both traditional and cone. I used an Euroreef RS80 that was a traditional design with good performance and I now use the XP-1000sss which is a cone design and performance wise I'd say they are pretty similar. If you are deciding between the two..I'd go with the cone.

Cone has less chamber volume, which reduces the contact time and surface area to remove organic wastes.

The SRO Internal skimmers are a "hybrid" design, part traditional, part cone.

I personally wish Coralvue/Octopus would make a traditional design with their BubbleBlaster pump.
