If anyone has any insight as to which one is better, it would be greatly appreciated. I have read good things about both, and talked good about both as well. The octopus skimmer seems to be priced a little better for the reputation and bioload.
both are good skimmers, but the octopus line is the price performance winner. If you have a sump the octo nw110 or 150 would be more than enough for a 50 gallon. If you do not have a sump I would recommend a D&D marine typhoon HOB skimmer for $68 from drfosters.
