Odd mantis molting behaviour

Just noticed some behavior I've never seen before from my Mantis. He's about a 6" long Peacock, I didn't know he'd molted, but when rearanging the rocks recently, I found that not only had he molted, but he burried the remains under the sand in his hole. I've never seen a mantis do this before. Anyone seen this behavior before?

Yes, my OS does the same thing. Eventually it will eat the old shell which provides it with some good nutrients.
