Odd or not??

I have been using kalk on my ATO for months. I could never get my parameters to stay stable. I also could never get my alk to go over 7.3. So last week I was super busy I finally got the job if always wanted. Yesterday I did my water change so today I tested for the first time in over a week. My mag is at 1400 my cal at 440 and my alk at 9.3. It's crazy like my kalk is finally working or something.

alk, calcium, and mag sync with each other to create an equilibrium. i dont know much on the topic yet, but chances are your calc or mag was out of sync causing bad alk level. doing the water change brought the levels of these elements closer to normal ranges.

next time your alk goes out of wack, test your calcium then your mag. chances are your levels are messed and probably need to adjust your dosing/do water change.
