Odd wavebox problem

Hey Roger,

I've got a wavebox that I've had in service for about 4 or 5 years now. After a recent cleaning, the pump will fire up and run for a few cycles (probably about 6), then stop. The lights on the controller are still alternating green to red but the impeller isn't spinning. I take it out, pop the housing and check the impeller and it seems to be turning just fine. Put the pump back in and it ran for about a minute before freezing up again.

Any recommendations?
 
It would be best to send the pump in, the issue could be a worn out or seized drive unit or a dying motor. Include a return address and phone number with the pump.

I fiddled with it some more this past weekend. I thought I'd unplugged the unit but had cut the power to another of my Tunze pumps instead. I'd left the front guard off the pump and just barely touching the impeller caused it to immediately start working... but again only for a few cycles. It really didn't feel much like a seized impeller because it took off so quickly and vigorously. Just thought I'd add in the hopes it makes debugging the problem easier.

Can you please call us? There is a small charge for cleaning and shipping. It was just seized. The shaft is a static part in operation and the magnet must spin on the shaft, it was fused to the shaft so they spun as a unit and this triggered a shut down as it uses a lot more power this way. We had to remove the old shaft and replace it as it was damaged from hammering it out of the drive unit. Total is just $25 including shipping back. 512-833-7546

I called and spoke with Craig. I appreciate the update and the excellent customer service as always. You had this diagnosed and an answer back within 24hrs of the pump arriving at your doorstep!
