Odd "Worm" in tank during feeding

This worm like thing (about 1/2" in length) was reaching out from under a rock during feeding today. I took tweezers but only got this much of it (some was left behind, not sure how much). I'm not sure if it is a worm, or maybe was part of the arm of a star. It has very tiny hair-like parts coming off of the sides of it, and continued to move around for 15 minutes after being out of the tank.

Any ideas?

The "head" end that was it was moving with is actually the smaller end - the left side of the picture.
