Ode to the SPS Photograph

Thanks for the kind words NatureNerd. I do not have a FTS that I wish to share. I've been battling aefw and then had a heater explode. I am trying to get my tanks back to their former glory.

Great thread. May I join?

Beautiful thanks man. Looking forward to seeing some of those old guys again! That acro looks like a beauty, at least 4 colors in there it appears.

As noted by Gon08 - known to be an austera. No known name, I use to bake it with 400W halides to get this color, otherwise it was not a spectacular coral.

250G does this one have a name? I have it and never knew what it was called and its one of my favorites. I love the purple polyps and yellow tips on this coral.

Amazing shots guys and great thread idea, I can't wait til I can afford a macro lens...

Do you have any pics before getting this coloration from it? I have a wild austera that I got from the LFS that was bleached and is starting to color up. It's mostly blue polyps with a little blue but I am noticing the tips starting to turn a bit yellow. I'm going to start giving it some more light to see what happens.
Here is a pic of how it looks now

No pics, it was very unassuming. Essentially dark blue with a hint of yellow on the tips, similar to those aquaculture colonies you see. This coral loves high Light IME, I had it directly under a 400W halide.

Well, I am cycling a all starphire 36l x 18w x 20h right now with a 40G sump, an old tank I had, but I have thoughts about a new slightly custom tank, I am going to inquire about it next week, see if a builder can get me into something a little larger for a fair price given I don't need a bigger tank. No new pics or thread yet, but it's coming, get my new Vertex Illumina 260 LED Lighting Fixture (36 Inch) next week! Planning a hot smaller SPS tank!!!...55G minimum, 90G max

I am subscribed! How big is the new tank? any pics yet?

I can't believe your going all LED. I hope it works out for you. You might want to talk to Dwayne about that vertex fixture as he did'nt like it and switched it out I believe. Those vertex fixtures don't have optics do they? Personally I would have went with an orphtek solution if I was going LED...

What ever happened to that purple yellow tip?

I think with 250G going to led's is a good thing for the reefing community. If he has issues you know its the lights!
