anyone ever heard of this company? i cant find much about them online. i know of someone selling a 110 gal O'dell tank but i dont want to purchase something i dont know much about, on that same note, what are your opinions on perfecto tanks? they have to cost 1/3 less than AGA for a reason?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated

Odell industries was at one time the biggest manufacturer of aquariums there was, they had trouble during the early 80's and went down giving space to "Perfecto" to grow, I believe they came back to the market under the name All-glass which you know as AGA.
They are now the biggest mass producers of aquariums and I believe the own Oceanic as well but keep the brands separate.
I like All-glass over Perfecto and Oceanic over All-glass mostly for the thickness of the glass they use and the overall finish of their product

but the moeny goes to the same place since central owns them all

I thought Marineland own Perfecto, Aquarium Systems, Instant ocean, Reef crystals etc, Marineland was purchased a while back by Ray-o-vac wich change the name division to spectrum brands (NO RELATION TO THE FOOD).
The other two AGA & Oceanic I dunno if they are owned by a "central" company I haven't heard anything.
WHO IS CENTRAL?

Thanks for the insight so far. Being on a budget would you recommend against the purchase of an O'dell or perfecto? i have seen the quality of the seems/silicone on the prefecto tanks and i definately agree the AGA and ofcourse Oceanic are superior in the finishing , Perfecto tanks dont seem to have the attention to detail where the glass meet in the corners, dont align, silicone is not as clean and neat and so on but i would not deter from the purchase knowing that wont be a structural issue and the tanks hold together well, bottom line question is perfecto a good lasting tank? i am not to concerned about the appearance as i am in the soundness of the product? i need to buy a tank this week IF NOT TODAY,

Thanks again Rogger and A.T.T.R for your posts and info,

P.S. i have heard the Oceanic now owns AGA from a LFS but i would not say it for sure unless i was given more info and really needed to know if its true

central garden. go throu some back issues of old mags.. they talk about them buying EVERY THING
and people were worried about all the tanks becoming crappy

I saw a 90g and 75g RR Perfecto Corner Flo tanks at Reeflife about 1 month ago it looked real good. I am a getting a price from a lfs today for 90g perfecto two things a like about it is that AGA does not have is the front panel on the corner overflo comes off for cleaning and durso style stand pipes some claim it is quieter than aga megaflow??? also the perfecto price includes the RR kit. more saving. Lately i have read post about people having problems the new Oceanic tanks, if you go to petsmarts those Oceanic on display don't look better maded.

Oceanic & AGA is owned by the same.
I believe Kent & coralife? are both part of the group as well.
AGA is in the process of being renamed.

Personally I would not try to cut corners with the tank, Buy it new, buy the bigger and better you could afford, This is one of those items that will kill your hobby if it fails suddenly, I would not risk it.
IMO imperfection in the finish of the product is an indicator that the glass was not cut straight and thus prone to leaks due to stress in the seams. This is not a a sure thing with any tank but at least it should give you a peace of mind.

Actually AGA owns Oceanic

darn, i hate to agree with you Rogger ACTUALLY my wallet hates to agree with you. i have always known "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" a 110 Perfecto NEW cost 229.00 and a AGA NEW cost 319.00 there goes 90.00 towards the pump i was going to buy :-(

Thanks, i have stuff to consider.

I HATE BEING ON A BUDGET!

Thanks Again

db_triggerfish, i have seen exactly what you are talking about on the overflow cover being able to remove and clean them on the Perfecto tanks, i wondered why dont AGA have that?

since i dont want in tank overflows it does not matter to me but i agree with you on that point

aga is becoming aqueaon or somthing like that..

they have some new hob filters with the pump inside the tank... its mostly junk

Hi, I'm looking for O'Dell catalogs from the 70's and 80's in which a hex shaped aquarium with a wrought iron based was published. Here is an example of the very fish tank:

Does anyone have an issue of a vintage catalog in which it was published? Thank you so much in advance!
