odyssea jebo it is good

persontaly i would go with a well known company like current USA orbits, or coralife ect.. I just bought a coralife 24" metal halide/PC set up, it was expensive, but i'd rather pay a couple hundred more dollars, than have my place burn down, i'm sure that would cost me more than a couple hundred if that happened. BTW i almost bought the odyssea light untill i read all the horror stories and even had a LFS tell me that a guy that goes there bought one and his whole fixture melted and almost caught his house of fire.

I decied to post it again so people don't miss it on page one. I just think it's important that people see these. :D

exactly lol, I wouldn't risk it. It's not worth it. If you want to be cheap go ahead, but you get what you pay for and eventually something is bound to happen. Here is some links.

every company does have problems, but with current usa and coralife ect.. the % of problems is alot lower. Thats not that bad seeing as there are millions of them out there, but there arn't as many Odyssea around and there are alot more people who have had problems. If current and coralife only have problems with 4% of their lights why would Odyssea have problems have problems with 40% of it's lights? (the percentages were just an example, not nessorly accurate) Like i said, if you want to be cheap there is noting anyone can say to you. It's like your trying to justify yourself buying the low end cheap products. whatever, i just don't want to see anyone get hurt or loose their house.

I wish an electrician would chime in. Is there really a big difference, or is it like generic oatmeal, because I love generic oatmeal. The cheap price might be because Odyssea has a lot less R&D.
I own a medical sales distribution company, in my case prices do not reflect quality.
Odyssea has a 96% failure rate. lol

I know there is a problem with their ballests, they are made out of something thats not suppost to be used or something like that. If you read through the threads there are reasons why they fail so much. I don't remember off the top of my head though.

my point is that every company has problems:

ballast, fan, and customer service issues with Current USA

Their sunpod had a safety recall

Exactly, they had a safety recal, show us where odyysea has even thought about a safety recall. They have had trouble and they can't even give thier customers an answer to a simple email. Everybody likes who they like and dislikes who they dislike. Evidence has been given for both sides, good for all of us, this is going to far. We have other things to worry about in this hobby. Focus on them, we focussed enough on this.

save yourself the trouble and save up for a quality fixture.

My 24'' odyssea light just blew to heck after using it for a year. I used to be one of the people preaching about how great they are for the value.

The fans will eventually quit working and the ballast will melt. This is not good and I'm surprised no one's been hurt. Honestly... how much longer can this company stay in business?!

For those of you who do have these lights... be sure to check the fans and possibly replace them. Also, count your blessings that your house hasn't burned down yet.

Saving $100 bucks isn't worth the risk for me.
