the coralife light has since had the plexi removed and the diy light doesent actually have plexi over the light, the top and far edge was used to make the light lighter and smaller that making it wood.
I saw the tank at the critter when i went to get the new bulb. i didnt understand what you meant about a "nice glass top" till I saw it, it was nice. Thats a really good price too. They had all their quietone pumps for 40%off!
i think i am gonna try to paint the tank with a roller while it is full. I cant really do much else at work. also thought i might just put car window tint on the back, i heard that works, does it?

I used privacy tint for home windows from Lowes/HD. Worked great and easily removed if needed, stays in place otherwise.

the critter also has the vinyl backing in black....can't remember if they have the adhesive stuff or just the regular that you tape on

Critter has the cling stuff as well. I used that originally and it worked very well also. Cost is probably a little cheaper at the critter since you just need a small amount.

I used the stuff from the Critter on the 180 and it worked really well.

The new light has begun to change the colors on some of the corals, my purple/blue zoas have a more intense green skirt, the eagle eyes are deeper red, and the sand is growing coraline. Reaquascaped and added new frags of frogspawn and a purple cap coral. still need to get to lowes to pick up some tint for the back!

Our facailities people would also flip out, but my boxx is trying to talk them into letting us both setup nanos in our offices. One of the lawyers has Bettas, a violation or the rules, but since it's a lawyer they will say nothing. One of our PR managers wants to setup a 300+ on our reception floor, hopefully that'll happen eventually!

just put some privacy film on the back and rescaped some rock, its looking good but i still want more light. I ran across an old nanothread that talked about ccfl lights, looked them up and found this link. what do you guys think? would this work? cant beat the price i think.

ive seen those before but they are only 1w leds, the ones that people build with are usually 3w right? I didnt think that 4w would cut it, do you?

There are ways around it. At MS, there were those that had a tank....jsut get your doc to write a letter that it is a therapuetic mechanism. Fish tanks are factually proven to be calming and are used for stress/hypertension/depression therapy.

So..if anyone truly wonders why I ahve 8 tanks...hahaha.

if i'm not mistaken, emerald bay has a small tank setup w/ one of the powerbrights.......?

Ill have to go check that out at ebay, can anyone confirm that they have a powerbrite led set up on a tank there? What the heck is a ccfl anywhay and how do you power it?

I have hypertension and my job is SUPER high stress. My boss saw it today and thought it was cool. She said....mabe it will help you relax a little! I chcukled.
