Official 2014 Dodgers suck thread!!!-)

Cardinals aren't his kryptonite, Mattingly letting Kershaw dictate when he comes out is the problem. It was the difference in the series.

Absolutely correct...in the first game! Not in second one.

Mattingly completely mismanaged games 1-3 in how he handled starters, leaving in to long(see above) and then second guessing his prior bad decisions by pulling them to soon, not making necessary adjustments in lineup (Puig for one, hitting for Ryu when he's throwing a 2 hitter to insert a pinch hitter (SVS) with 2 outs and nobody on base!), never utilizing Dan Haren while continuing to rely on those gas cans in the bullpen, where was Justin Turner, the dude hit .340 this year and saw one AB as a pinch hitter in game 4. I could go on.

I think changes are coming. Master came in and left things as is and didn't let the staff go and start over his way. Dodgers didn't improve over last yr. Same amount of wins in regular season and same exit in playoffs to the same team. I expect Colletti (who did zip at trade deadlines to improve bullpen saying he thought they had enough starting/relief pitching to give up youth) and Mattingly to be shown the door. Kasten was originally a GM and he's built winners wherever he's been. If I had to predict, I'd guess we'll be seeing a new GM and Dusty Baker back in a Dodgers uniform.

Kershaw threw great. He made one bad pitch. One inning with one ground ball hit off the end of the bat and a fingertip away from a diving second baseman and a line drive that just nicked the shortstops glove is just bad luck. Then he threw the only regrettable pitch of the night. He was throwing a 1 hitter through 6.

Can't argue that winning division didn't mean squat. I wouldn't be punching your ticket to the fall classic just yet big guy. Cardinals might have something to say about that

Go Royals

In the MLB it usually only takes one bad pitch. (Or throw to third, Bumgarner)

I believe CK's postseason stats are 1-5 ERA 7+. That's more than a few bad pitches. The postseason stage is too big for some.

I agree Go Royals. A Wildcard World Series will be fun to watch.

Ned, he sets and provides the roster.
Mattingly, he manages it.

Both did a very poor job, Mattingly might escape the axe though.

As for Kershaw, he's fine.

Game 1: Kershaw did very well through 6 innings. After giving up another HR in the 6th, that inning should have been it. We had a 4 run lead going into the 7th, if your bullpen can't secure that, your not going far.

I don't mind leaving in Kershaw to start the 7th, just think with 4 run lead and KNOWING you want to use him in a few days, you go to the pen.

Game 2: Greinke is cruising and the game is tied at 1. This is when I understand trying to stretch your pitcher a little. It's a tie game, you have no room for bullpen error. But Greinke gets the hook.

Game 4:
Kershaw on short rest, already at close to 100 pitches and we have a lead, no need to send him out there in the 7th.

In the end the issue isn't Kershaw can't pitch in the playoffs, it's that he and Mattingly felt they needed him to do more than should be expected.

boom.... what happened guys?

Free tear drop tatoo day infront of the city hall.

The Giants still have an uphill struggle we are a little closer.

did anyone see the fan holding the sign last night.... "superman wears Hunter Pences underwear." that was one hell of a catch.

You still owe me a frag :)

Owe you a frag hmmm. Risk I was planning on giving you a frag regardless of the outcome. But with your team out and my team still in I would have thought you lost like your team but no big deal.

I hope to see you at Rap and next year you will be wearing a giants jersey as a bet. Lol

Risk I have a oregon tort frag that I cut months ago for you. You have been a good sport about this so I have no problems throwing someone a nice coral

I'm only jokin Richard :) I don't want a frag, just messin with you.
Jersey?! That's a great bet. I don't know if I could

I had a bet like that last year with my giants friend.... he bet me in spring training that whomever came in first the loser had to wear the other teams hat and jersey and post it on a social media site for a month . (Last season, and the Giants were 17 games back) well he didn't fulfill that bet and didn't want to bet this season. .. lol

That's funny. I had someone write me a check once and it had the San Francisco Giants logo on it and I told her I only accepted cash

That's really kind. I had a great time over the last couple seasons doing this with you Richard. I really tried to make it work to go to last dodger v Giants series with you. Just couldn't do it. But next year..... Good luck with moving on. I don't like Cards either so I'm just pullin for the Royals

Curious if you would be happy if Dusty Baker did come back to the Dodgers? He is a good coach but as a Giants fan who had him as the Skipper he was a good players coach but also suffered from not pulling pitchers quick enough. That's one thing I've appreciated from Bochy is that he usually doesn't F around in the playoffs in yanking a pitcher when you have a good bullpen. Only the first game stood out to me on keeping Kershaw in when they continued hit after hit. Kershaw is a stud...he made the one bad hanging curve. Hard to say with pitchers though...look at Lincecum. Kid was lights out for quite a few years then lost it but was solid in relief in the 2012 playoffs. Have yet to see him this year.

We'll see what happens, you never can count the Cards out. Go Giants!

:) what a series...KC is going to be tough but it is October so you just never know -- Go Giants

Congrats to the Giants! World Series is gonna be very interesting because the Royals are playing lights out and Giants are not too shabby themselves. Would love to see the Royals take it home since they haven't taste glory since 1985.

GO KC!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Rik, I can appreciate a loyal fan. To cheer you up, this is a buddy of mine I've known since Kindergarten son. I'm sure he'll be wearing his Dodger hat tomorrow to school up in the Bay Area.

The YouTube video didn't work but read the article. That'd be me at that age lol. Couldn't go to sleep as a boy during baseball season without my clock radio on and Vin Scully and Jerry Doggett announcing the Dodgers game. It was like rocking me to sleep. The only thing as bad as the Dodgers losing is the Giants winning :blown:

Go giants!! Great game last night. Going to be a great series

Rik I have to agree with you giants and dodger fans will never root for the other. It is just one of those things probably one of the better sport rivals.

So just remember dodgers sucks and the only October play time they have is video game time. I just hope for your sake that kershaw does better on a play station-).

Ouch! I need some ice for that one :debi:

Big Doyers fan, but Kershaw at this point in his career is just not a big-game pitcher. I hate to say it, but the numbers don't lie.
