Official Borbonius Anthias Thread

.....I occasionally "suck it up".....and sleep on the couch for a week. Sometimes it's nice to sleep alone ;) lol .....

I've noticed mine has colored up alot. The pink is much more vibrant and the yellow practically glows!

so a about a week ago my borb stopped eating the pellets he loved so much, he will take a mouthful and then spit it out, but the mysis he cant get enough of. why the sudden change from him? stress?

i soak all my food in either selcon or the elos vitamin supplements

alternate. what pellets has it been eating? Mine has been on Elos pellets. But on Sundays before a water change I'll treat em to some mysis soaked in garlic/selcon.

i have kept my fish food for the tank exclusively Elos from the get go because they all go crazy for it. thats the regiment i had the tank on too, but im doing the mysis soaked in selcon twice a week now

I picked up one last week, I never planned on buying one because they never appealed to me. I couldn't pass up the great deal, though and the fact it kept following back in forth in the Lfs and staring at me. Other people walked up to the tank and it would run and hide, I walked up and it came shooting out to the front. I ended up paying 190 for it and a cherub/Argi angel. So far my anthias doesn't hide and is not shy at all, it does like its little overhang but its in full site.

They'll start appealing to you more and more. I think they are a very intelligent fish. My pair like to hover on opposite side of the tank during the day. Very rarely are they not out and about. At night and during the dark time in the tank they are always by each other. Interesting in that one is a lot more colorful, almost orange pick with big beautiful blue eyes. The other one is very beautiful too but just not as bright and is not the dominant one. Hopefully I will have a male and female. Both however are small.

This particular one was purchased at another lfs in the Toronto area. It was special ordered for me from the supplier in Indo. The supplier had it for several weeks and accustomed the Borb to eat flakes, pellets, and frozen variety of foods.

My Borbs are eating very well, they look great and so on. But they do not come out into the strong reef lighting yet. Wondering if people's Borbs are kept in reefs with strong lighting and how long it took to acclimate them?...

I've noticed that when I first bought this fish as well. It would hide in the rocks a lot and only pop out when food was offered. It swims almost nose facing down a lot of time in the water column too and is even found under the frag rack too. A really neat fish and probably the favorite in my tank.
