If you are not comfortable fitting the kit yourself then you MUST sign up to our fitting service, details at the top of the forum.

All kits have been fully tested before leaving so there are no chances of the system not working due to kit error.

All failures at time of installation are not warrantable.

Please use due care when fitting the kit, and if in doubt, return for us to do for you.
 
As everyone on the shipping list will receive their controller upgrades in the next few days I have bumped the fitting instructions.

One cautionary note. When installing the PAB mounting pillars, do so with extreme care. The pillars come pre assembled in pairs but I suggest undoing them and installing individually. The best way i found was to put the holding screw in the top of the pillar and then gently screw the pillar down. Undo the screw from the top by holding the now inserted pillar from turning when unscrewing this screw.

It will make sense when you see it!

Pretty confident that failure can not be caused by the simple fact that the parts are being shipped from Germany, Canada, and then through UPS. So is it safe to say that the upgrade kit does not carry the one year warranty?

Received my package today!

Have to say though, that the packaging is not as good as I would have expected. Just a few pieces of packing peanuts and the box was actually tore/crushed open so when I open the outside bag, everthing just fell from the bag :-(

Hopefully everything is still fine, we will see when I get time to install this on Xmas day.
 
The shipping was in accordance to UPS own guidelines which was checked with UPS before shipping.

If something arrives with signs of damage the normal policy is to email us with photos first BEFORE attempting installation as we would have no clue if something did not work what was at fault, contacting me by email is important especially as after tomorrow I will not be on RC until past the new year so if you have nay questions it will be the only way to reach me.

The box is stuffed full so you can not get anything else inside. The components are in electrostatic bags for further protection and the box is inside a weather proof durable mailing bag.

In your case I am happy for you to pop it back to us for us to test it so there is no complaint. Otherwise how do we know what was at fault if it did not work, shipping damage or installation error?

As a test I have just tried to crush one of these boxes full of chips. I gave up! So no idea what UPS did with yours to arrive in such a state.

@ Spinny - No it does not have a one year warranty, it has in fact a 2 year warranty ;)

In accordance with GHL instructions posted here, the fitting of the unit by third parties is not warrantied, i.e you turn it on and it does not work, if however after successful installation the unit fails of course it is then covered as it is proven to work prior.

To obtain FULL warranty the units must be fitted by us as posted quite a while back, but not one single person took up the offer :(

Ok now I am waiting for the replies regarding this, but please understand "I do not set the warranty conditions" these are direct warranty criterias of GHL GmbH. IF this policy concerns you in any way please contact GHL directly, I am merely the messenger, and have made this policy clear for a long time now.

Some important FAQ's

Are the units tested before leaving Germany?
Answer - Yes, no further hands touched any components prior to reaching the purchaser

Are the components protected from EMS
Answer - All PCB's are inside antistatic bags for this reason.

How were the units shipped from Germany
Answer - By air freight in sealed boxes heavily protected in polyeurothene wrapping (not shrink wrap, but heavier).

Did your shipment arrive damaged ina way to cause concern?
