Oh Crap !!!

I bought my new 90 gallon with corner overflow months ago, I leak tested the tank and overflow separately and everything was fine.

Today I added some water to the overflow to check that the bulkheads were not leaking and I noticed a leak from the bottom of the overflow into the tank. Probably no more than a drop of water in a minute or two.

Is this something I should try to seal up or should I not worry about it being so minor.

Crap, and Help !!!:worried2:

Just to clarify it is leaking at the bottom seal from the overflow into the tank

If I understand correctly, your seal from the plastic overflow on the floor into the display is leaking? If you empty it and dry it out you can put some silicone down to hold the leak back. YOu can also just raise your stand pipe and there would be no problem as well. Just make sure you cement the stand pipe into the bulkhead. :)

The rubber gasket goes against the flange not the nut. Bulkheads should be hand tight and then maybe at most a 1/4 turn more.

If you have to use something like silicone to get it to stop leaking throw the bulkhead out and get a new one.

So you are filling up the over flow only and it is leaking at the bottom into an otherwise empty tank correct? If so no problem. Or is it leaking at the bulkhead into the stand? That would be a problem!!

I would fix that. Leaky overflows could be bad, especially at the bottom. Your tank will level off to the height of the drain tube. Thats could be alot of water depending on how high or low you have your overflow tube.

When the power goes out, a small drip can add up fast.

This is not a huge deal. The same thing was happening with my brand new marineland 180. If the tank was empty and I poured water into the overflow.....a small amout of water would "leak" into the main part of the aquarium. It is a easy fix and will be something less to worry about. Just let it dry really good, get some aquarium silicone and make a good wide bead along the edge inside the overflow. I put some on the outside bottom edge too because I used gravel and it would not be seen anyway. If you were going bare bottom you may not want to do the outside part. Let the silicone dry for atleast 24 hours and you should have no more problems.
