Sorry, I find something new all the time. I'm pretty sure this one is a clam but I'ld like to know what type. Is it safe?

This one shows the "foot" or whatever it uses for transport.

this one shows the slit where it would open

Thanks again,

Could be a clam or a brachiopod. I don't think an id is going to be feasible, in the end, although a google search on brachiopod might give some ideas on choosing between that and a clam.

looks very much like one you'd see at the jersey shore when you scoop your hand in the mud.......as a little girl i used to collect similar looking little guys for the fun of it...didn't last long in my green plastic bucket with mud and seawater!! lol used to find some saltwater HC too! when i was like 5...20 some years later and i'm losing money faster than it comes in just to keep these type of creatures in my new glass "bucket" in my living room!

Ah the good old Jersey Shore. I so wish I could move back to Jersey. I want to go North my wife wants to go South so we're deadlocked right where we are. In Virginia. (No offense to any Virginians)

Oh, and at lunch I noticed that it had found a home in a rock an inch from the front glass and had opened it's mouth. At least I can watch it now.
