if your sand is covered with bright pink coraline then you can bet that we'll all be stopping over for a small sample of it!! And shake your hand in the process. You need to get that pic up.
I agree after reading all of this I want to see this picture as a matter of fact if you want go to my profile and email me the pic I will get it up for you.
I still could not post pics so i started a home page so i could add a link to them ...the pics do not do any justice for the pink ...its really pink ...http://home.rr.com/billbadass
What kind of lights are you running? From the ammount of coraline on that branch I would say its possible it is growing on your sand! Don't take my word for it though.
from past experience... if sand isnt moved around aka conch cucumber... any sandsifting animal... the sand gets coralline on it. (the sand underneath the top layer should still be white.
and indeed... the 51/90 rule is for selling and trading.
I run pc and mh ,You would think that the snails that burrow in the sand would mix it up .{well maybe not, there lazy}.They only come out when i put food in there..Hey Kat, are you sure you want pink sand ? Your welcome to have some if you want a outbreak of it..
Are you supplimenting the tank with calcium, alkalinity, and magneseum or performing alot of water changes with a salt that has elevated quatities of the same?
Maybe if you add more calcifying corals or a nice sized clam they would out complete the coraline and bring it in check.
