they do what they can. I just scraped the top layer off the viewing pane and it fouled the water pretty bad.

and you thought what was going to happen?

Dude, there is just piles of coraline completely obscuring the bottom of the tank.

Steve, I have urchins but they are UNSAFE for acrylic. They leave little bite marks wherever they go.

I'll ask again. What did you think was going to happen?

Scrape the crap off and vacuum it out!

MULLET ALERT!!
:eek1:

I see business, or I think I do behind those man-panties, in the front, and party in the back. Thus you have satisfied both mullet requirements.

Barry, That stuff would clog the most robust vacuum. Right now the 12" of bottom along the back wall has about 1" deep of coraline pieces.

"business" behind the thong? what does that mean?

So, how are you gonna get it out?

Alright, besides me, who's stupid enough to break their whole sump down, scrub it and soak all the pumps at 9:00pm?

You're a night owl Barry. Not sure how I will get it out. Maybe one of those long handled pooper scoopers would wrk.

You're right. I need to stop this crap and get my body clock readjusted to daylight. It's just hard after working nights for so long but you'd think I could after not being on nights for 5 years. Any ideas doc?

Scooper might help.

very easy Barry, you said it yourself, stop staying up late and get your body clock readjusted to daylight. you may not be able to get to sleep but if you stay up the next day without napping you'll be good and tired the next night and your built in clock will adjust.

Working the sump and/or refugium until the very late hours is something I've done often over the years. It's the perfect time to tinker.

nobody even thinks I am crazy for using a pooper scooper, or is that just the norm in this thread? I figured somebody would get bent over that.

Clams do not look good. Water quality is very good so I do not know what's going on. It has been like this for some time and I have some prize sized clams in there I will freak if I lose. Going to post in the clam forum...

Yeah, but you're a night owl too!

Thanks doc, I've tried that and it seems to work for a few days and then I'm right back to early morning bedtimes again!

Maybe I'm just slow.

Hey Marc, I have a serious nuisance algae problem...only in my sump, and it's driving me nuts. Any ideas. I have lots of flow in there and I just can't seem to get rid og the...mostly HA and a little BA.

That's the reason I started with the sump in the first place. was tearing out the frag area because that's the only place it is bad and after I got my head under there it was too ugly and I decided to pull the whole thing apart.

They are all retracted. Have been since shortly after the dino incident. I really don't know what is going on, but in the clam forum, there are others here in the NW with the exact same problem.

Inspected for parasitic snails but no banana. I think I am going to pull them and QT them. That should be loads of fun! :(
