OK. So here are the pics of two teardrops I put in QT. They are much better off than they were in the display tank, but I figure posting isn't a bad thing. Also, the clams in the display seem to be a bit better off today. I will try to take some top-down pics of those today as well.
First three are of the same clam:
Second set are of the second clam:
Taken with the lights off:
The green hue on the second one is interesting. Any comments?
These are in way better shape so again I have to assume there is either a pest or a water quality problem. The QT is half system water and half fresh made SW, and does not currently have a skimmer or any kind of filtration. This is because i am waiting on a pump for my skimmer to replace the one that froze. This is an entirely separate system from the display I removed the clams from.
Nice.J you have such a large skimmer i am sure you could add a lot more fish in your tank.At least they won't kick the bucket like in mine.Where are the pics of the fish you have.Do you have a list.I would have liked to buy rare fish or several expensive fish but I didn't think spending a fortune on one species of fish was worth it.I also think at this time my tank is still new.I have been doing the newb thing with the fish.I still think the silicone thing was bad luck because we used the same brand on my friends sump and my lod tank.I got my ph bus today for my Aquatronica controller so my kalk reactor is back on line.
While taking some top-down pics of the clams for the clam forum, here's what I found:
The problem with the clams started after I introduced these cleaner wrasses and I watched this one nip at this clam several times in the space of about 10 minutes. So I guess i have to trap the buggers!
here are some more top-down pics. The quality is not too good because I was really trying to get pics of clams, but what the heck!
bite me. everyone says that but no one has been able to do it yet with the 20K lamps. I used my POS with no tripod, leaning over the tank edge so I had no expectation of good quality. It was actually just a clam issue and I shot some extra pics.
I had a near miss with the foxface too as I went to try and use acrylic for the shots, the fish thought it was feeding time and swarmed my hand.
Got a new lamp for my QT UV but it is the wrong size, and while trying to fit it in, I broke the glass tube. Next time i have visitors coming, I won't start getting ready until 2 days before, that way I will only break two things. :eek2:
I now have about 40% of the coraline off the viewing pane. Sherman said he is going to come over and finish it up for me.
Testy tonight. Just giving you a hard time. Your stuff really does look good. I am actually glad you posted those because I was going to send you some of the zoas you already have.
Dude, I just got 4 polyps of Forest Fire from Ultimate frags. They are tiny buggers but very cool ($9 each, dammit!). Got in several other corals but the main one I wanted was DOA. So are two others that I can tell so far. Did get a nice Purple haze chalice, Wild orchid duncan, Orange crush acan, and a Blue flame monti. I hope those all survive. When I got the package this morning, the water temp. was 61F.
To be honest, I really shouldn't be buying corals but I don't know how long it will take to get the new tank designed and built.
BTW Gabriel, bunch of pics are gone from your thread and I can't remember your web site.
