Roger I got the Osmolator 3155 and Im such a dolt. I have it all set up and I plug it in and I get the high pitch squeal (water too high?) I think. but the laser eye is not touching the water...the float part is not being submerged either. So I unplug it and replug it and then it starts filling...good sign...but the water is already at the desired height so I lower the eye to just over the water and plug it in and I get the squeal again. Am I doing this all wrong? I bet I am. Can you give me some insight.

Oh and BTW dont EVER stick the tunze magnets together....I couldnt get them apart for the longest time and squished my finger. =\ yikes it hurt like a *****.

Make sure the 5017 brain unit isn't near a ballast or magnet. Make sure the float is properly oriented, try flipping it over- the float is the source of the alarm and can be assembled two ways so it goes off when up or when down. The optic sensor is not very accurate for the first few days because plastic repels water and this interferes with the function. You can wait a few days and carefully watch everything or just rinse the sensor in warm soapy water and rinse it thoroughly.

I think the way the orientation of the float is such that the wire coming out of the float should be coming from the bottom. It sounds like you have the float turned upside down.

Yes, but it could be they assembled it wrong. If you undo the c clip and reverse the float ring it works in the opposite orientation. Also, a magnetic field can close the relay in the box and cause an alarm as well.

no I have the float with the wire coming from the bottom. I do not have the float far enough down. I thought the float was supposed to be a safety valve. So I will fiddle with it when I get home tonight. What is the eye for (the other connector) it does not seem like that is held down very well...

It is just a safety, the optic sensor is the main sensor, the float needs to be at least 1" over the optic sensor. Any alarm is a result of the float so you need to check it.

ok Roger...First off thanks for all your help as usual. I appreciate it. So I got home. Plugged it in again and the water starts to pump...good news. Then after about 30 seconds or so..pump stops and the alarm goes off.

I try this 4 other times same result. It is not near any ballast or magnet...and I also took the float out of the sump and held it in my hand and turned it upside down...still the alarm. So I dont know what else Im doing wrong...I have tried the float both ways...when the alarm is going off I push the float the opposite direction which should stop the alarm right? It doesnt. help thanks.

I don't understand why this happens. Is the float straight up and down? Is it out of the water as it should be- about 1-2" out of the water? If you can't get it send it to me and I'll go over it and send it back right away and I'll throw in something for your hassles.

yes it is out of the water...it is staight up and down. I even removed it completely out of the sump and held it in my hand that wouldnt make a differnece right? The float should only sound the alarm when the float goes up...I turned it upside down...I moved it with my hands while the alarm was ringing to both positions and still the alarm would ring until I unplugged it then replugged it in and the same cycle would happen. The water would pump for a few seconds then the alarm would ring again.

Send it to me and I'll throw in a drive unit for your Streams to have as a spare, I'll have it back on it's way within a day of getting it.
