Ok here's the deal the project includes setting up this nano for sps only- flow would be with two nanostreams.
It will be plummed outside and need some suggestions in terms of sump/skimmer/reactor? maybe?(two part?)
I can design one sump/fuge out of a 20 gallon i have spare and drop a skimmer etc. Not much experience with smaller setups but I'm quickly getting hooked. LOL
We( me and my brother) are in the most fun part of the hobby-planning -so all the input its greatly appreciated.
I just never thought possible setting a small tank with sps only but here we go,will c.would like some input.

You would be fine with just the tank only and not have to design a sump for it. You could also get an aquaclear filter and put some media or chaeto in it if you wanted.
I never needed a chiller either with my tank, I just added a small computer fan to the side of the lights that blew across the water and kept the temps down to a constant 80 degrees.
I had one modded nanostream along with a mj1200 in the back chamber for flow, two might look overcrowded.
I've tried the remora and the superskimmer on my setup then bought the deltec mce300 and it definetly blows the other two away.
You could get a reactor but its not really needed I dose a two part. By the way, you might want to go barebottom with it, it will be much easier with two nanostreams.

Manny, check this site, it is all about nano's stuff, and put me first in line when your brother is ready to sell the whole set-up to upgrade to a bigger tank :D

hey joe thx for the input. This tank will have a sump/fuge that may very well be larger than the actual display IMO for stability purposes.
As far as flow we have not decided.
The fact that we have the chiller makes life easier and provides the ultimate temp control.
As far as skimmate we are considering a reefdevilsystem plus a mini reactor will c. Maybe a two part with a peristaltic pump would be smarter, anyways.
Can u post some pics of your setup and thx for your time.

Manny,

I too have a nano that is a 20g high that I drilled and then had the glass siliconed in.....

As stated before 2 nanostreams culd be done but definitely bare bottom. I have a 10g sump/fuge on mine and to be honest wouldn't do anything less.... If you want sps then don't slack on filtration imo. reason for my sump. Down below I have a decent fuge secion, a coralife ss 65 hob style not doing the insump. Although people claim to having overflows from the skimmer is simply due to them not cleaning the pumps or the venturi of the salt creep.

1 nano stream would be good enough, along with whatever return you would have in place.. I have a mag3 for return and koralia model1 which equals to about 30X turnover including the head loss. Thats perfect due to having a mixed reef. I would also suggest you hold off from adding any sps for a few months to allow the tank to mature... Up until now I do a water change every 3 weeks and use b-ionic and my corals are as happy as can be....I did have a stag that didn't do to well so it went to my 90 and is doing better.. I would suggest on lighting to go with a phoenix bulb... I have it on my 90 and it's wonderful and the colors of the corals really come out shining very vibrant.

Sorry for the ramble and heres a couple pics to get you more wound up to do it! :smokin:

very nice - I will def built a separate sump/fuge abot 20-40 gallons and may upgrade the pump to try to avoid PH's will c.
