Ok, no more red slime, now I have green hair

I finally got rid of the red slime with two little fishes phosphate remover. Now I have all this green fuzzy hair algae invading everywhere. It doesn't seem to mind the high water movement like the red did. Any suggestions? All my parameters are great, I have a fuge w/chaeto and I only feed every 2-3 days the minimum. I also added some 150 nassarius snails today.

heh, we just throw it in our tank with convicts for a couple days...thats what we do at work, heh. no there is this stuff by sea chem...stop hair or something like that, it should do the trick, its supposed to be invert safe and everthing.

The Nassarius snails don't eat algae, so they aren't going to help.

The only thing I would add is that you are already having a problem with your skimmer or with inadequate water changes or something or else you wouldn't have a problem.

Ok thanks for the link. I'm guessing I need to remove by hand. Great. I know those snails don't eat algae, but they'll help eat garbage in the sand bed. I would thinkg that should help some.

My skimmer works great. Actually I finally figured it out about 6 months ago. It really wasn't doing all it could before that. Duh.

I do water changes once a month, 20%. It was always adequate before. Maybe our water conditions are changing. I use an ro/di filter, but maybe I need to change the filter every 6 months instead of a year or something.

Get a tds meter this will help with the filter changes.Do you test for posphates(excuse spelling)That is why people have algea problems.I know the lettuce nudibranch eats hair algea but I thing they don't live that long(had one but lost track of it)

Continued use of phosphate binders or other methods of nutrient reduction, even if the phosphate looks low, can help reduce a green hair algae problem. I prefer skimming and growing macroalgae for my system.
