Ok Ok Who bought the multibar pair from LA?

Sheol - well everytime I want something from DD I always tell my brother to get it for me. I dont know how he does it but he just called me to tell me he got the potter wrasse that came out today.

Guys, my trio would ONLY eat Spirulina enriched Brine shrimp and nothing else. Just feed them that!!!

Once they are in the Display and they see other fish eating pellets they will catch on. Dont try to get them to eat much else at first. If they are eating the brine, just feed that until they are out of QT.

Jacob, stick with QT and Definitly do 2 rounds of prazi for sure! Mine were from DD and they needed the prazi but ate the Brine all the way through the prazi and cupramine and didn't slow down once!

Robert, PM Me so we can talk about your QT practices. This is really the way to go once you start buying fish you really care about and would be very difficult to replace. One wrong move and you have lost yoru whole collection. Healthy Multifasciata dont come around much especially in pairs or trios!!!

Anyway, lets see some pics!

Thanks for the feedback Ryan. Which specific product were you using to enrich the brine? I have been loading them with Selcon and Zoe.

As for pictures, I'm superstitious end never take pics of fish in QT... every time I have done it I've lost the fish! I don't even like taking people back there to show them... I realize this is abberant behavior and I am fine with it :)

Twelve---I had randomly checked for them, and between loading the page and ordering by newest . . . they poped up, so i saw the update like within 2-5 seconds, they were there for about 4 minutes, was through to check out once and changed my mind for some unknown reason (might have something to do with the other fish I had just bought, one can only push the wife so far in 1-2 months :C)

Good luck to those who bought them, keep us updated! They are such amazing fish in person, not that photos are bad, but wow, in person stunning.

Very nice your really lucky!! Good luck with them and yes please post the pics! I did not QT mine either so i wouldnt shun you for this :P . I think that you have a better chance of keeping them alive if you can get them in an established tank asap. I remember reading on here that someone had one living for over 3 months or so i believe before it began eating, well atleast eating the foods it was given, this was because the tank was mature enough that it was able to pick at and eat things on the established rock.IMO people "think" these fish are harder to keep then they actually are. As long as you get a healthy specimen initially I think they are really as easy as any other dwarf angel(besides the fact that imo they benefit from more feedings). Now if you guys are having trouble getting them to eat i suggest trying the live blackworms. My vanustus angel came in to me eating everything under the sun.Anything i put in the tank he would devour but the multibars were alittle tricky. The one of the pair would mouth food and occasionally swallow it but the other one wouldnt touch anything. I finally went to the LFS and got some live blackworms and live brine because i didnt want the one to starve. The second the blackworms hit the water there was a feeding frenzy. They would eat the brine to but they love the worms. I started to add other things with the worms, such as pellets and flake, and they started to go for those to. Now they eat everything i feed them (which is about 20 different foods or so frozen/live/freeze dried/pellets). People say the multibars are shy and delicate but mine are nasty and mean so to each is own i guess..

Hello everyone. Well I am extremely sad to say that my pair of angels are gone. They were both doing fine nipping at the rocks and eating frozen foods. Then out of nowhere I went to go see the tank in the morning and found one dead. The remaining ate that whole day and the following morning dead. I really dont know what happened. They were not being harrased by any other fish. All other fish doing great. SAD DAY for me. I hope everyone else has way better luck than me. :(

I am not very sure if the multibar is treated with prazi for internal parasite at LA... That might be the cause..

Just an update... my pair is still in QT. They're eating live brine, cyclop-eeze, and a little PE mysis.

I've had them in QT almost 3 weeks. I started Prazi yesterday. So, one week of Prazi, week of recovery, then maybe a second round of Prazi. I'm really holding out until I feel like they're eating well enough to be with my other fish. I have a group of about 2 dozen anthias that create some intense competition at feeding time and want to ensure the angels will have the desire to get in the mix and chow down.

sorry to hear.

which kind of angels were they?

Update... fish are in the final round of Prazi and will be all done with that on the 24th. I may introduce them to my tank that night, but more than likely I'll wait a few more days. In other words I'll have some pics of them soon :)

I've concluded that these fish do deserve the "difficult" rating only based on the fact that they are very picky eaters. Unless you're one of the lucky ones to get fish that eat aggressively it's not going to be easy keeping them well fed. There is a reason that they have a reputation for starving in captivity. I'm a little concerned about mine. They eat brine very well, but are very selective when it comes to mysis, and have limited interested in cyclopeeze. They won't touch black worms or any pellets or flakes. I wanted to have them eating better before moving them into my tank but I hate to keep them in the QT forever. There is limited grazing opportunity for them there and I'm also hoping that seeing the other fish in my tank eating will encourage them. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

I noticed that another pair, also from Vanuatu, just sold on DD. Anyone here get them?

Jacob, my trio did the same thing and I was concerned about their food selection. After some time watching the other fish eat a wide variety of foods, they now go after anything in the tank!

You will be fine, just make their transition as seamless as possible. I used an acclimation container and it worked well for me...

If you're having probs switching them to PE mysis, try using hikari (or other small type) mysis instead - they seem to change their eating habits slowwwlyyy and PE mysis can be a bit large/intimidating at first.
