I "think" I know who those sharks were sold by because I was at SFO when two huge boxes came in for a local wholesaler and they had BTRS's in them.
The problem really is that most people have no idea of how to properly care for these animals. 9 times out of 10 the enclosure is too small or the water conditions are not proper. Leopard sharks and horned sharks come to mind.
Some people have the un-ending desire to keep animals that are "evil" or "aggressive". You know the Super Lifted Truck Syndrome, overcompensation, little man complex. The dentist and this other guy are no different then the person with a 55 gallon tank filled with 12 inch Oscars and Managuense only feeding them goldfish. I see it every day and it breaks my heart that these people are slowly killing fish just because they feel that it is cool.
A shame!!!
