Olasana Lagoon: High Energy SPS Nano Build Thread

Haha, someone told me about this thread today. I had to post on here.. nobody listen to Galleon, he's the ultra noob!!!!!

J/K. I don't know how real hobbysts can handle the noobfest that is the interweb msg boards these days.

Btw.. Iwasaki FTW.. never been a better halide bulb, never will be. RIP master of spectrums.. may your replacement MR. LED someday reach your level of coral loving spectrum.

I'm just pointing out hypocrisy and Jr. Highschool like behavior.

Seriously, if you have nothing useful and non-attacking to offer to someone elses thread, you should go find another thread. This is Chris' thread meant to blog about his tank. Whatever accusations or agenda you have should be taken privately.

In my opinion, your posts really detract from what this thread is about anyway (psst ... it's not about you).

thanks for pointing that out mr high and mighty

Made a couple drastic changes yesterday. No more live rock, took it out. Mammoth might have an aneurism now. I was beginning to suspect it came from an old system that had been broken down. I also removed the fluval box filter. It was difficult to clean and had become a detritus trap. My pH drop last night was much smaller than it normally has been for the last few weeks, and I feel comfortable attributing it to that.

This is a great point and I hope that people become aware that a great deal on someones use liverock is not always a great deal. you pay for what you get

so, are the corals just sitting on the glass bottom?
won't do much for aesthetics, but once they start to grow and encrust, it'll be very interesting..
new pic?

You had a box filter somewhere on that tank? Missed that somehow. Thought it was just an air skimmer and water changes.

Gonna have to see some new pics now. Sounds like a bunch of frags just rolling around on the bottom..?

Was there something wrong with the "old system" that you think your branch rock might have come from?

Yep, they are glued to the glass bottom. Some of them are on the rocks they originally grew on.

Pretty cool.

I like it. I would of never thought that glue would stick that good to a glass bottom. Looks like it works pretty well.

Thanks for that update.

Reef on!

You just have to make sure the glass is clean of debris or soft algae. Coralline algae it will stick to no problem.

cool! Ive always wanted to do this but with a few 10 gallon tanks plumbed together. Each would have just one SPS coral and one small fish each.
