Old 180 Oceanic seal questions?

The seal on the front side of the tank at the bottom is all cut loose from the glass in spots. The seal between the two panes of glass look perfect and I am certain it does not leak at this time. Would you remove the damaged silicone, clean it, tape it and reseal it or leave it alone?

I had an Oceanic (older - the big center glass brace over the top) 240g that had a small leak in the seam, left side of tank where the back wall meets the bottom pane. My rule of thumb, along with some others on here, is to get rid of the tank if there is an issue with the seam. In the end, I replaced it with a GlassCages 240g tank.... Talk about twice the weight for a fraction of the cost...
