Old School CO2 Regulator

Hmmm. Does a solenoid default to open or closed if not plugged in? When I ran a reactor back when, I just dialed it in by bubble count and effluent pH.

Depends, solenoids can be designed to no ( normally open)
Or nc ( normally closed).
3 ways can do both at the same time.

Can you use this for anything?

A solenoid valve shuts w/o power ie closes .
FYI if you buy a CO2 regulator @ a welding shop it does not have a solenoid. I made Joshi's reactor way back and it called for a dwyer air flow meter. You can simply buy/order the brass fittings to step it down to the 1/4" hose size.
That would be the best/cheapest bet.
