old tank set up

I had a salt water tank set up in the past and had to stop the hobby. It has been sitting in my garage for a year or so and I want to get it set up again. What would be the best way to clean everything? I put the old sand bed in a pail with a lid. Should I reuse the old sand bed? If so how should I clean it. Same with the rock. I put that in pails with lids also. Should I reuse, how to clean?

Use vinegar and water to scrub the tank

Do not reuse sand---it loses it's effectivenss as a buffer over time and could have aborbed alot of phosphates and nitrates.

If just starting up I would put the rock in the tank and let it cure along with a few pounds of new live rock to help seed it with bacteria
It will be good for your tank to cycle the natural way for 4-6 weeks since starting over.
