old tissue not coloring up

I've got a couple of brown sps which have beautifully colored new growth ( color as advertised by the seller). I'm not talking about brown with a little blue; tip; one of them I've had several months has 1.5" of blue growth which shows not sign of browning, but the rest is still light brown and not changing color at all. Can you **** off a coral so bad that some the old tissue never colors up?

Sometimes it takes a long time for the old tissue to recover. Sometimes its faster to just cut the coral back and enjoy the new growth. The "wild " thing is a myth. IF your corals arent thriving its water quality, pure and simple.
